YOUR CHILD TO ENSURE  WE ENJOY ANOTHER SAFE & SUCCESSFUL EVENT

·          VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES are available at www.agca.net Please report to the volunteer station located directly in front of the clubhouse on the day of the event to receive your volunteer assignments.

·          EARLY ARRIVAL is strongly encouraged.  Gates will open at 7:00 a.m. with check-in starting at 7:30 a.m. and a mandatory safety briefing beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m.

 ·          SAFETY is foremost with any activity where firearms are present.  Therefore, it is required that ALL participants attend the pre-event safety briefing that is scheduled to begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.  Unfortunately, late arrivals that do not attend the required safety briefing will be unable to participate.

·          PREPARE for inclement weather.  We have enjoyed very good weather in previous years, but it could be difficult for kids to have fun if they are cold and/or wet.  Backpacks can be easily carried from station to station as participants move along throughout the day with snacks and bottled water.  Be sure to put your child’s name on personal effects to aid in their return in the event they are left behind during the day.

 ·          HEARING PROTECTION is required for all participants and chaperones when in close proximity to active shooting ranges.  Although we will have ear plugs available for everyone, parents are encouraged to bring hearing protection (muffs or plugs) and for their children that has been determined to fit properly.  Although many of us may think we are familiar with using ear plugs, we strongly encourage you to view this VIDEO that demonstrates the proper use of foam ear plugs.  The video is approximately 5 minutes long and well worth the time when considering the consequences of the improper use.  We also recommend you watch the video with your child and have them practice the techniques demonstrated.

 ·          LUNCH will take place at approximately 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. and is provided for all registered participants and volunteers.  Volunteers are to check-in at the coordinators station to assist with the day’s activities.  For those that do not wish to volunteer, wristbands for lunch can be purchased at the check-in station for $10.00 per person.  If your child has food allergies, please pack them a lunch and let the adults at the check in know.

·          The Alaska Machine Gun Association will celebrate the event by performing their “Mad Minute” demonstration of automatic firearms following lunch.  The Anchorage Police Department’s SWAT Team will have a display for all to enjoy – be sure to stop by and thank them for working hard and keeping our community safe.

·          RAFFLE TICKETS will be available for opportunities to win several fabulous prizes.

·          CLOSING CEREMONIES are scheduled to begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. and will include a drawing for great prizes.  Parents are asked to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. to pick up their children as the security gates will be closed and locked at promptly at 6:00 p.m.

·          YOUTH SPORTFEST FIREARM SAFETY CAMP is a free event for the youth of our community and designed to introduce the shooting sports and promote firearm safety.  This event is only possible through the generosity of our sponsors and private donations.

Your financial contributions are graciously accpeted by contacting the Alaska Youth Shooting Sports Association by email to make a donation or speak directly with one of our event volunteers on the day of the event.
